Barcelona:Off The Beaten Path Part 1

On Sunday we decided to go into "the Ravel" an area that is more rough cut than the touristy areas.  We go into this little bar called Absinthe, which is supposed to be a student hang out.  We checked this all out before hand of course.  It's earlyish by Barcelona standards, say 7-7:30.  The bar is supposed to be known for vermouth.  We ask for 2 and what type of bocadillo is available.  Bocadillo is a type of small sandwich-tapas.  The barkeep says his cook is not there yet.  OK.  Then he brings us one drink and says he can't find his bottle opener to make the second drink.  Really?  We then watch him frantically pace around and make calls because he has no bottle opener.  He tells us he has 2 but can't find either.  You run a bar with only 2 bottle openers and you have misplaced them both?  I then said forget the vermouth could you do an Aperol spritz.  He checks the bottle.  Yes, it's open, he can make it.  Not the smoothest of operations, but definitely entertaining to watch.
